View of hard drive usage in vbim Monitor
When your hard drive becomes full, you may start experiencing slowness, sporadic instability and even services (eg. BIM Server) going offline. When someone at vbim or a vbim Monitor notifies you that your hard drive is getting full you have three options:
Cleanup your projects
Storing data in the Cloud is for collaborating and costs money on a monthly cycle. For this reason it is not ideal to store inactive or archived projects in the Cloud and it is better to download the project, convert it into a SOLO file and store it elsewhere.
To reclaim hard drive space from inactive and archived projects, follow this guide.
Adjust your snapshot frequency
The BIM Server makes snapshots of your projects and depending on the size of the projects, the frequency of the snapshots and the lifetime of each individual snapshot, snapshots can quickly grow into a substantial amount of used space on your hard drive.
PLN Snapshot: PLN snapshots contain your model data only. PLN snapshots can only be opened as solo ArchiCAD projects.
BIM Project Snapshot: BIM project snapshots contain model data, plus all BIM Server/BIMcloud related information, such as user data and roles. A BIM project snapshot will be created automatically in the background according to the schedule set in the Project Snapshot Schedule dialog box.
More information about BIM Server snapshots is available here
Request an increase in hard drive storage space
By default you will receive around 100 GB of hard drive space for storing your projects but every firm has their own needs and the default amount of storage space may not be adequate for your firm's needs.
